After lynching the Central Park 5, Robert Morgenthau, New York County District Attorney, and Linda Fairstein, Bureau Chief Sex Crimes Unit, allowed Edwin Crooks, Louis Miceli, and Robert VanCaneghan, members of the Board of the American Stock Exchange, to launder money and to smuggle drugs aboard ocean-going fishing boats. Thus Morgenthau and Fairstein sought to destroy entire African-American communities- as a favor to Arthur Levitt, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission and former Chairman of the American Stock Exchange, who did not wish the criminal activities of the American Stock Exchange to be exposed.
